Antoine Forqueray

Antoine Forqueray (c. 1671–1745) var ein komponist og gambevirtuos frå Frankrike.

Antoine Forqueray vart fødd i Paris kring 1671 som den første i ein familie av komponistar som inkluderte bror hans, Michel Forqueray (1681–1757) og Antoine sine søner Jean-Baptiste (1699–1782) og Nicolas Gilles (1703–1761). Forqueray hadde tittelen musicien ordinaire i ensemblet La Chambre du Roy under Louis XIV i 1689 og spela ved hoffet. Inntil 1710 vart han akkompagnert av kona si på cembalo under solokonsertane sine. I 1730 flytta han til Mantes-la-Jolie, der han dødde i 1745.

Sonen Jean-Baptiste Forqueray gav ut verka hans for gambe i 1747, to år etter at A. dødde, og han gav òg ut ei utgåve for cembalo solo.

I si samtid vart Marin Marais og Antoine Forqueray rekna som dei to største virtuosane på gambe.
